Philip Stein watches are not merely watches, they are also designed to contribute significantly to your health and well-being by wearing them. The ‘Prestige Automatic Gents Philip Stein’ is no exception. Under the case of the twin-subdial face which features dual time-zone and date displays, is a thin metal plate called a natural frequency disc. Apparently, when worn on the wrist, the fundamental frequencies of the Earth transmitted by this disc interact with what is known as the human biofield.
The frequencies that resonate from the watch “regulate” the body, enabling the person wearing it to be less vulnerable to stress. It’s called Frequency Technology, and the company fits these plates into each of their watches. Since the company launched in 2002, they have received thousands of endorsements from customers who have reported better sleep, less tension, improved concentration and improved overall well-being. Perhaps the most important endorsement came in 2003 when media giant Oprah Winfrey featured the watch on her ‘Oprah’s Favorite Things’ show.
Philip Stein was founded by owners Will and Rina Stein. Will, a marketing expert with broad business experience, and Rina, a watch designer, combined their knowledge and skills to develop the brand.
Drawing on Rina’s 28 years of experience in the watch business, Will’s extensive marketing background and their newly acquired knowledge that natural frequencies had the power to improve one’s overall well-being, the couple set out to develop a watch that promoted health and combine it with unique looking watches featuring a dual time zone and interchangeable straps.
When the watch range first became available in 2002, it marked the first time in history that frequency-based technology had been incorporated into a luxury watch brand.
But does this “frequency technology” really work? Frequency-based technology is based on some of the premises of Nikola Tesla, known as the “father of physics” and Winfried Otto Schumann, a physicist who discovered that the earth’s frequency ranges between 7-9Hz. Many scientists have since come to believe that 7-9Hz is also the frequency that the human body needs to reach optimal health.
By incorporating alloy chips and disks that mimic the earth’s frequency, Philip Stein’s watches are said to help balance the energy flow of the wearer and reduce stress. In other words, Philip Stein’s watches are more than just a fashionable timepiece – they help avoid stress by keeping our bodies in harmony with the earth’s natural rhythms.
The distinctive features of the watch range have also received much praise. From the dual time zone dial to the aperture in the back of the casing offering a glimpse of the company’s Frequency Technology, and the interchangeable watch straps, the Philip Stein range has become a significant player in the Swiss watch industry. Today, Philip Stein watches are sold in 25 countries around the world. The product line has expanded to include a wide range of styles.
The Prestige Automatic is made of highly polished stainless steel with a black exterior and white interior with “Clous de Paris” motif. The movement is an automatic ETA 2671. The upper subdial features hours, minutes, seconds, and date at 6 o’clocck, while the lower subdial features dual time-zone display. It comes on a brown crocodile leather strap and is expected to retail upwards of US$3500.
