Pimp my watch: Tourby Argentum customisable watches

In the never-ending search for ‘a lot of watch for the money’ Tourby certainly has much to offer. These German designed and manufactured watches can be customised according to taste in terms of watch height by using case backs of various widths.

The watches are based on the designs of vintage pocket-watches, and this extends to the movements too, as they are derived from genuine Swiss-made pocket-watch movements, modified to customer’s requirements.

Traditional Swiss watch-making standards are applied including Genevan strips, blued screws, and polished wheels.

But it doesn’t stop there. Customers can request further upgrading such as a screw balance, a swan neck, beautiful sunburst decoration, intricate perlage, expert hand engravings, even skeletonised dials or part-dials.

Each of the watches are generously proportioned with a 42mm 925 silver case with grained finish and feature two sapphire glasses. Tourby Watches are always about choice and flexibility, so the customer can select from a range of design options. There are two basic designs, one with screwed lugs and the other with smooth lugs.

In some cases, the refinement of the ETA Unitas 6498 pocket-watch movement is so elaborate that it takes on a personality of its own and becomes a movement of great charm and beauty.

 Planetarium Special

The watches come on a choice of an Alligator leather strap or a steel bracelet.
And the price? €949.00 inclusive of German tax, or €800.00 for international buyers.
