Happy New Year!
UK-based, Swiss trained watch designer Jacques Fournier has created and launched his own watch brand inspired by his love of extreme sports.
Fournier made the decision to launch his own collection in 2010, and two years later, Wryst Timepieces, the new watch brand, is ready for roll out.
The Wryst Airborne, the first collection under the new brand name, claims to be the first luxury watch to combine stylish looks, incredible strength and reliability at a more affordable price than most avant-garde designers.
Fournier describes the watches as being designed for extreme athletes wanting “aggressive looking watches designed to withstand the toughest conditions.”
Made from a diamond-like carbon coating in black, the Airborne FW3, FW4 & FW5 offers the ultimate protection against shocks and scratches.
The 45mm sized watches are powered by Swiss Made 5 jewels gold plated Ronda Startech 3540D quartz chronograph movements; the first-ever quartz chronograph movement with counters at the six, nine and twelve o’clock positions. The dial features clear reading chronograph functions with 1/10 seconds up to 30 minutes, centre stop second (1/1 sec), ADD and SPLIT functions, 30 minute counter, 10 hour counter, date and small seconds.
The Wryst Airborne is 100 metres water-resistant making it ideal for sports such as scuba diving, surfing, windsurfing, waterskiing, and jetskiing
The watches come on soft, comfortable wide silicone rubber straps screwed in a range of vibrant colours. The engraved buckle is made from stainless steel with a polished finish. Also held by screws to the strap making it more secure than conventional spring bars.
The watches will initially retail via the Wryst Timepieces web site with prices ranging from £415 (US$673) for the Wryst Airborne FW6 up to £475 (US$770) for the limited edition Airborne FW3, FW4 and FW5.
A second collection is planned to launch in spring, and will sell via a network of retailers.
