Chrono dashboard: Eberhard & Co Chrono 4 Géant Full Injection Limited Edition

Manufacture d’Horlogerie Eberhard & Co was in La Chaux-de-Fonds by a young Georges-Emile Eberhard in 1887. Originally, the company specialised in producing an array of technical watches that were innovative and groundbreaking for the time.

In fact they are still doing exactly that. Now the Chrono 4 Géant collection is being enhanced with a new super-cool total black edition. Known as Chrono 4 Géant “Full Injection“, the timepiece is being produced in a limited series of 500 pieces.

Part of the reason for the limited edition is the sheer complexity of the production process. The 46mm case of the Chrono 4 Géant “Full Injection” is created using a special treatment with an advanced low temperature carbon diffusion.

This treatment allows the carbon to penetrate the steel surface for 30 μm (micrometers), thus producing a structural hardening. With the steel’s hardness increased, the watch-case’s wear resistance and fatigue-limit are greatly improved.

The next step is the beautiful black colour of the dial which is obtained with  a DLC – Dianoir® - Diamond Like Coating – which, ensures the watch has a steel case and buckle with a sporty, stunning black coating. The chronograph subdials are also black (arranged in a horizontal line as per the Chrono 4′s patented design).

Uniquely, the black shade of the Chrono 4 Géant Full Injection extends to the chronograph push buttons and crown and the black dial, with black counters and red counters’ hands. There also a circular metal plate with a “Côtes de Genève” decor. The model name - “Full Injection“ – is engraved on the case-back.

The screw-down crown, which is protected by a crown guard, is adorned with a bas-relief Eberhard & Co. shield. The push-buttons also screw down, and the bezel, which has six black PVD-treated screws and black engraved numerals, turns in one direction in the style of a professional divers’ watch.

Water-resistant to 200 metres, this chronograph comes with a vertically sculpted rubber strap that underlines its powerful energy. A great new statement making watch from Eberhard & Co.
